Our Quality Commitment

Our Story - why Malbec?
Malbec has been part of the Margaret River story for decades, traditionally grown as a blending grape to add colour, structure and complexity to Cabernet Sauvignon. While it spent many years in the background, it is now earning recognition in Australia as an outstanding wine in its own right. When we planted our vineyard in Yallingup, we had one clear vision - to grow and craft an exceptional Malbec. Rather than producing a range of wines, we chose to focus on a single variety that has long captivated us for its richness, elegance and remarkable ability to express the place where it is grown. We belive Yallingup provides the ideal conditions for Malbec. Warm days, cooling ocean breezes and our unique soils allow the fruit to ripen slowly, developing concentrated flavour while retaining elegance and natural balance.
Winemaking - the craft
Our Malbec is crafted with an uncompromising committment to quality, beginning in the vineyard where every bunch is hand picked at optimum ripeness and carefully sorted before small batch fermentation. Gentle hand plunging during fermentation ensures delicate extraction of colour, flavour and fine tannins, preserving the purity and character of each vintage. Following fermentation, the wine is matured for 18 months in carefully selected new and aged French oak barrels, allowing time for the tannins to soften and the wine to develop complexity and structure. This patient approach creates a Malbec with concentrated dark fruit, subtle spice and beautifully integrated oak. A wine both approachable in its youth, and capable of rewarding careful cellaring.
Caring for our Vineyard
Great wine begins in the vineyard. We manage our vines with precision and restraint, aiming to produce exceptional Malbec, while caring for the land that sustains it. Our drip irrigation delivers water directly to each vine, guided by soil moisture monitoring, so we irrigate only when needed. We keep vineyard intervention to a minimum, using thoughtful management practices that support healthy vines and a balanced ecosystem. Regular soil and leaf testing allows us to tailor nutrition to specific areas of the block, while winter cover crops help build soil health, prevent erosion and encourage beneficial insects. By working with nature rather than against it, we seek to express the character of our site in every bottle of 4 oaks Malbec.
